Neymar took to social media on Sunday (July 26) to address rumors that he had confronted young players on the Santos team after their draw against Chapecoense in the Brazilian league. In a post, the player stated he “will no longer accept” lies being told in his name.

“I’m seeing some things coming out, that I confronted the young players in the locker room. Totally false. Whoever spread that, please don’t do it, don’t lie. You can ask anyone who was inside the locker room. The confrontation was for the team,” he began.

The match took place on Saturday (July 25) at Vila Belmiro stadium. The draw has sparked speculation about tension within the squad, but Neymar denied any personal conflict with the younger athletes.

He emphasized that his comments were directed at the entire group, not specific individuals. The player also asked those responsible for the rumor to stop spreading false information.

Neymar returned to Santos earlier this year after a stint in European football. His presence has brought increased media attention to the club, which is rebuilding its squad with a mix of experienced players and young talent from its academy.

The Santos team has been working to improve its performance in the Brazilian league. The draw against Chapecoense was seen as a missed opportunity to climb the standings, leading to frustration among players and coaching staff.

Neymar’s clarification comes amid a broader discussion about team dynamics and leadership within the locker room. The player has been a central figure for Santos since his return, and his statements carry weight both on and off the field.

The club’s management has not commented on the incident. Santos is expected to focus on its next match as it continues its campaign in the Brazilian championship.
