Brazil’s Galvao Channel and SBT Open to New Partnerships

Brazil’s Galvao Channel and SBT Open to New Partnerships
Galvão Bueno narrou a Copa do Mundo para o SBT

The relationship between Galvão Bueno’s channel, N Sports, and SBT has grown closer following the World Cup. The positive results from their collaboration have opened the door for further discussions about new business opportunities in the market.

There is now a stronger possibility of expanding this partnership, especially when it comes to future bids for sports rights. Events like the Copa do Brasil, which will become available in the coming years, are naturally part of this planning.

This movement benefits both sides. Galvão Bueno’s channel brings prestige, credibility, and a strong digital presence. SBT, in turn, offers infrastructure, reach on open TV, and a tradition in sports broadcasting. In a market where the cost of rights keeps rising, sharing investments and improving content distribution has moved from being an option to becoming a strategy.

While these possibilities are being studied, some things are already certain. Galvão Bueno will continue to host “Galvão FC” on Monday nights. The program is becoming a regular meeting point for sports debate and shows that, beyond being a historic narrator, Galvão remains a relevant figure in Brazilian sports communication.

Copa do Brasil rights

Regarding the rights to the Copa do Brasil, starting next year, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is calling everyone for talks. For now, these are just meetings for presentations and analysis, nothing more.

The CBF is reaching out to all major media companies, with one exception: LiveMode. This is due to political issues.

When it comes to open TV, any result other than Globo keeping the rights would be a surprise no one expects. Its renewal is almost natural and logical. However, the extra factor could be SBT getting one game per round.

SBT microphone change

The new microphone cover for SBT, chosen by employees, will start being used on August 3, the first Monday of the month. This date also marks the beginning of the network’s 45th anniversary celebrations.

BandSports moving

The long-announced address change for BandSports is very close to happening. All necessary steps are being taken. The channel will move from Tabapuã Street to Luiz Carlos Berrini Avenue.

History channel premiere

History channel premieres new episodes of the documentary series “World War II with Tom Hanks” today at 10:10 p.m. The production brings never-before-seen stories about the largest conflict in history. Over 20 episodes, the series features restored images, rare archives, recovered audio, and historical records covering military operations, espionage, resistance, and survival stories.

Internal issues at Globo

Every new project requires adjustments, but there is a limit that cannot be crossed: turning internal disagreements into a public spectacle. This is the message Globo sent to the GE TV team after recent controversies. GE TV continues to show good results, but behind-the-scenes discussions should stay behind the scenes. When that does not happen, the focus shifts from content to crisis.

GloboNews clarification

CGCom clarifies that there is no planned event for the market, including sponsors, press, or influencers, to present the new GloboNews sets. There will be an internal meeting between management and journalists only.

Catia Fonseca return talks

Tomorrow, Tuesday, the big news is a meeting between Walter Zagari and Fernando Pelégio from Jovem Pan with Catia Fonseca and her husband, Rodrigo Riccó. The meeting is confirmed for 5 p.m.

Jovem Pan, as it starts its open TV operation, is interested in bringing back a daily program with Catia Fonseca. The format would be similar to what she always did at Record, Gazeta, and Band, airing from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Quick notes

Paramount Pictures confirmed the release of “Ebenezer and the Christmas Ghosts” for November 12 in Brazilian cinemas. The film stars Johnny Depp as the protagonist of the classic Charles Dickens Christmas tale.

The program “Roda Viva” receives today psychiatrist and professor Hermano Tavares, coordinator of the Pathological Gambling Clinic at Hospital das Clínicas of the University of São Paulo.

SBT has reasons to celebrate the results of its entertainment lineup. Last week, “The Noite” and “A Praça É Nossa” recorded good audience numbers, reinforcing the network’s positive moment.

TV Cultura’s series “Museums of São Paulo” is a great success. The most recent episode, dedicated to the São Paulo Museum of Art Assis Chateaubriand (MASP), was educational, interesting, and managed to value one of the most important cultural institutions in the country. The show airs Sundays at 7:30 p.m., with a rerun on Fridays at 8 p.m.

Between August 13 and 19, Imovision holds the Commemorative Exhibition of Pernambuco Cinema, celebrating anniversaries of four landmark Brazilian films: “Baile Perfumado,” “Baixio das Bestas,” “Cinema, Aspirins and Vultures,” and “Boi Neon.” The opening will be on August 6 at Cine São Luiz in Recife. The exhibition will then go to about 30 cinemas across the country, with debates, social tickets, and actions aimed at democratizing access.

This Monday, fans of the “Twilight” saga can enjoy a full marathon of the franchise on the Megapix channel. Starting at 2:10 p.m., the lineup includes “Twilight,” followed by “New Moon,” “Eclipse,” “Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” and “Breaking Dawn – Part 2.”

The winner of Miss Universe Brazil 2026, Marcella Kozinski, will be a guest on “Hoje em Dia” this Monday. It will be the new Miss’s first interview after winning the crown. Live, alongside Celso Zucatelli and Renata Alves, she will talk about the decisive moments of the competition and expectations for representing Brazil at Miss Universe.
